Description

  • Visualize the evolution of 1 to 10 indicator(s) on a continuous time axis. Several zoom levels (or period restriction) are available.
  • Modular cursor is also available for navigating the curve.
  • Possibility to display the min and max reference levels of one indicator.
  • The time axis must be continuous and can be defined with numeric values for Year, [Month], [Day], [Hours (24h)], [Minutes], [Secondes].
  • Possibility to use the functionality of linked elements on this graph.

How-To Video

Animations

  • Display the tooltip(s) when you move the mouse over the points of the chart.
  • Use the bottom slider to zoom the chart on a specific period by moving left and right border of the slider. Move the slider to view the data on the specific range.
  • Fix the zoom to a specific period by using the zoom buttons on the upper left of the chart.
  • Define a specific range date by using the values cases on the upper right of the chart.

Use the Webi native element link function to make this graph interact with other elements of the same report (native Webi tables / graphs and / or Need4Viz graphs). Element binding can be defined on all objects or individually on one of the dimensions of the graph.

Settings

You can find instructions for accessing settings for Need4viz graphics: Format Custom Element.

For the Timeline, the available parameters are:

Global

  • Palette and Style
    • General : You can use the palette tool to define the colors used to build the graph.

Extended parameters

  • Global → See the user guide for the “Global” section here
  • Menu → See the user guide for the “Menu” section here
  • X_Axis :
    • Title & Labels : Define a title for the axis and set the style for title and labels
    • Axis formatting of axis datetime : Define here the format of the axis values for each type of period (Year/Month/Week/Day…) depending on the level of zoom used to vizualise the chart
    • Fixed format of axis datetime : You can choose to freeze the axis format. So no matter the zoom level, the type of period (depending on the chosen format) will always be the same. If the field is left empty, the automatic adjustment of the axis defined above will be applied.
    • Display : Choose here to display a linear axis (missing values will be filled to get a linear axis)
    • Crosshair : Display and set a crosshair on X axis. You can stick the crosshair on values or follow the cursor freely
  • Y_Axis1 : This is the first (and main) Y axis used in the chart. Other optional Y axes can be defined in the Options-measure section → See the user guide for the “Axes” section here.
  • Options
    • Zooming : Select here the kind of zooming to activate on the chart
    • Tooltip : This setting allows you to separate or not the tooltips and to define the date / time format. Depending on the zoom level, the date range will be automatically adapted, define for each range the format of the datetime displayed. Available DateTime formats
    • Current date indicator : Setting to manage the current date indicator slider
    • Color series : This setting allows you to rely on the color set on the labels option
    • Labels : This setting allows you to set the label options (Outline)
    • Values : This setting allows you to hide the null values. You can also choose to not optimize the display of values regarding to the level of zoom.
    • Columns border : This setting allows you to set radius corners (all corners or only top corners) for the columns/bars
  • Selection → See the user guide for the “Selection” section here
  • Controls → See the user guide for the “Selection” section here
  • Tooltip → See the user guide for the “Tooltip” section here
  • Legend → See the user guide for the “Legend” section here
  • Navigation
    • Colors: Define here the color of the labels and the zoom values and the dates picker.
    • Upper navigation : Set here to display/hide the upper navigation zone (zoom & calendar selector) as well as the zoom and labels color
    • Zoom boxes : You can choose here the default zoom level and the available zoom buttons. You can also choose to display the zoom values with buttons or in a listbox.
    • Date boxes : You can hide here the calendar selectors (only if upper navigation is displayed)

  • Options-measure 1
    • Chart type : This setting allows you to choose the type of graph you want (lines, steps, points, columns, areas). You can also choose to disable the measure on open.
    • Values : This setting allows you to specify the name of the measure in the labels (replaces the Webi object name, %SECTION% N4V variable can be used in the label), the unit to add as a measurement prefix or suffix as well as the maximum number of decimal places. The measurement display format (standard - e.g.: 2,345.67, compact - e.g.: 2.3K or compact long - e.g.: 2.3 thousand) can also be defined.
