Resources Description Framework

This is the N4V FOR WEBI Wiki page for the Resources Description Framework (RDF) widget.

Since N4V 2025.2.10

• Resources Description Framework (RDF) diagram.
  
• Used to display the relationships between parent / child elements (nodes).

• Dimension 1 : Source nodes of the diagram
• Dimension 2 : Target nodes of the diagram
• Dimension 3 : [optional] kind of relationship between source and target nodes

• Dimension 4 : [Optional] List of options to customize the Source node. Expected format is [option1_name:option1_value],[option2_name:option2_value],…,[optionN_name:optionN_value]
• Dimension 5 : [Optional] List of options to customize the Target node. Expected format is [option1_name:option1_value],[option2_name:option2_value],…,[optionN_name:optionN_value]
  • Options available are the following :
    • shape : Shape of the node. It can be ellipse,triangle,round-triangle,rectangle,round-rectangle,bottom-round-rectangle,cut-rectangle,barrel,rhomboid,right-rhomboid,diamond,round-diamond,pentagon,round-pentagon,hexagon,round-hexagon,concave-hexagon,heptagon,round-heptagon,octagon,round-octagon,star,tag,round-tag,vee.
    • background-color : The colour of the node’s body. Expected value is a RGB hexa code (ex. : #E077FF).
    • background-image : The URL that points to the image that should be used as the node’s background. PNG, JPG, and SVG are supported formats. The expected value is 'url(https://xxxxx)'.
    • background-fit : How the background image is fit to the node; may be none for original size, contain to fit inside node, or cover to cover the node.
    • border-width : The size of the node’s border.
    • border-color : The colour of the node’s border. Expected value is a RGB hexa code (ex. : #E077FF).
    • border-style : The style of the node’s border; may be 'solid', 'dotted', 'dashed', or 'double'.
    • tooltip : The content to display in a tooltip on the node.
    • width : The width of the node’s body.
    • height : The height of the node’s body.

• Measure: [optional] Used to define the width of links between nodes

Two contextual menus are available:

• Left-click on a node or on a selection of nodes ():
  • Zoom to selection
  • Highlight direct relationships (neighbors/ancestry/descendants)
  • Highlight total relationships (all ancestry & descendants, all ancestry, all descendants)
  • Hide items that are not part of the selection
• Right-click on the chart background:
  • Fit chart to window size
  • Remove Highlights
  • Unhide previously hidden items
  • Change arrangement mode

For the RDF Simple, the available parameters are:

Extended parameters

• Global
  • Title of the chart : This common parameter is described here → Chart title
  • Background color : This setting allows you to choose the type of colorization for the background of the graph. Several styles and colors are available.

• Menu → See the user guide for the “Menu” section here

• Options
  • Layout : This setting allows you to choose the node layout
  • Automatic displacement of child nodes : This setting allows you to move or not the child nodes with the selected node and to determine the minimum number of children for the automatic movement.
  • Menu options : This setting allows you to hide menu options (search bar, highlight items, node layout)

• Node
  • Node shape & color : This setting allows you to choose color and shape of node
  • Node outline : This setting allows you to choose color and outline of node
  • Labels : This setting allows you to choose the position and the writing style of the labels of the nodes. You can also fix the max length of text in the labels (0 length corresponds to display the full text).

• Link
  • Link colors : This setting allows you to choose color of the links and the arrows
  • Link thickness : This setting allows you to choose the width min (or default if no measure is used) of links, and the max width if measure is used
  • Link type : This setting allows you to choose the type of links
  • Arrows type : This setting allows you to choose the type of arrows
  • Labels : This setting allows you to choose the writing style of the labels of the links

• Highlight
  • Neighbours elements : set the color used for neighbours elements
  • Parents elements : set the color used for parents elements
  • Children elements : set the color used for children elements
  • Full ascendant elements : set the color used for full ascendant elements
  • Full descendant elements : set the color used for full descendant elements

• Measure
  • Measure display : This setting allows you to specify the name of the measure in the labels (replaces the Webi object name). You can specify the unit to add as a measurement prefix or suffix as well as the measurement accuracy.
